This is cummings' best poem for me--so moving and loving. A beautiful reading of it, Mary! "i carry your heart with me(i carry it in my heart)"--how powerful!
Dear Mary ~ I maybe shouldn’t have read this on the train. (🥹) How lovely and touching to see you read this and share your story. You’ve greatly enhanced my appreciation for the poem. Cummings was a treasure.
This has been one of my favorite poems. It’s the line “this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart” After your heartbreaking story and the poetry of the Rabbi’s ordering of the service I can see so many more meanings, readings to this masterpiece of writing. You are a deep, powerful woman so full of heart.
Oh, Mary. Thank you for this reading. There's so much love and sorrow in the velvet folds of your voice. I hope you find some bliss and tenderness in writing the essay.
What a soulful reading of a poem that is sublime now that I've heard it from you, Mary. Surely this is a poem for the blood and heart. Wow. I will be listening to this again and again. Thank you for this.
I think, Holly, that I almost cried when I got to that line--even slightly faltered on a word. Thought about rerecording and then told myself, no: let it be. xo

Ah, so glad to meet your generous soul and to engage with you as we are now doing. Only connect ... xx
Only connect—I love that!
Nadia, that quote is the epigraph to E.M. Forster's gorgeous novel _Howards End_.
That's wonderful!

What a beautiful choice for her to carry with, throughout her life and hand it to the next generation.

Thank you, Tara, for the heartfelt project and all the ways that you did it. I'm so glad to have found you. My heart to yours, Mary
As writers often do, I felt I only followed where the project wanted to lead. The admiration is mutual. The heart knows its business. 🥰
Indeed, and beautifully stated, dear Tara.
So touching 💙 and a lovely poem.
Heart to heart, Kathleen.
Beautiful poem beautifully read.
I love this bit so much “and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you”—both the words and the emotion you brought to them.
I think, Holly, that I almost cried when I got to that line--even slightly faltered on a word. Thought about rerecording and then told myself, no: let it be. xo
