The plot thickens. Mary, Lila is blessed to have a Savta like you. Anxiously awaiting the next clue and of course the watercolors!

Seeking wisdom from bicycle repairmen, bakers and desert nomads is the definition of wisdom. And I love your watercolors!

Yes, indeed, on wisdom: Don't we love it that that's where Arthur chose to go! Thank you for the comment and the encouragement.

Oh Mary, I am so loving this! But I was convinced Mrs Round would have had the answer... I am certain had this book been written by a French author there couldn't possibly have been anyone more likely! Now I must wait and see... Mamoud of the desert... what secrets to be found in the dunes I wonder?

<Mary L. Tabor>'s avatar

It is written by a French poet!

Susie Mawhinney's avatar

It is! I have read that name every week you have posted these little delights Mary and the name didn’t even register! Worse, I have a feeling there are books written by Jean-Pierre Siméon in the school library..! Oh the shame…

Oh gosh this is cute.

As are you, Richard! xx

As all very good children's books do, this one teaches in more than one way through a story so very well told. I like how it introduces children to different occupations and different cultures through its characters: old Mamoud of the desert is inspired. I also like Arthur's curiosity and that he doesn't give up seeking, even though he's received answers again and again.

I so agree and why I cherish this book by the marvelous poet so--and why I chose it to do all these letters.

I am so glad you did, Mary. xo
