This is one of my favorite scenes. The tension of the three in the same room, shared space but secret intentions. The dominos of calculated risk on the precipice of imbalance. And then Karen enters the narrative! Oh Lord, I hope Alisa Jones is reading this, I suddenly had flashbacks to her recent Barcelona ado.
Oh my goodness! Can a person stroke-out from irony? The tension here is so subtle AND fraught! Like a violin string about to break during this triplet of notes that suddenly slips in a sharp, staccato 'Karen note' and like that the string snaps. Lordy!
Wow, Kimberly, I hadn't thought of that about Alisa's real-life story in Barcelona that, of course, I have read. We need to get a message to Alisa and see what she thinks, don't you agree? We love Alisa!
I agree with Kimberly. The delicate balance of this pas de trois is both exquiste and powerful.
Ah, pas de trois -- great way to express what's going on!

Oh, man, what a terrific comment. You put it all in an eloquent, acute nutshell--stuffs about ready to break. Gotta love you!
Oh dear, I’ve been in meetings all day!!! Just catching up… Lol. Flashbacks galore!
Can't wait to hear your news when you may tell!
Soon!

We do love Alisa!!!!
“She tried to think straight, but thinking was her way of disappearing.” Such an intriguing line.
The layering and depth is one of things I love about your writing, Mary.
Ah, my dear, the love goes back at ya!
Like so many of your posts, this one makes me think, makes me feel and makes me hungry. Thank you, Mary.
Love that. xx ~ Mary
So many questions…which happens when you jump in at chapter 5. Going back and catching up. ❤️I love this. And thank you.
Lovely. Hope you will go back and read, Juli. Great to see you here.
