“I see home distorted through the bottom of the glass.” So much in this one line. It punched me. Glad you metaphorically punch back by choosing the frog-at-the-wall approach.
Stunning fun, and I love how it weaves all the threads together. Fairy tales, Ulysses, frying pans, expensive underwear, the view of the rug through wine glass bottom, and walking along the Potomac.
Favorite chapter yet. SO much intertwining metaphor and mythos wrapped in raw real life-edness.
A frying pan just for cooking is a tragic underuse of its power..
“I see home distorted through the bottom of the glass.” So much in this one line. It punched me. Glad you metaphorically punch back by choosing the frog-at-the-wall approach.
I loved that. The best way to hurt a guy is buying $1500 worth of underwear! And the best? There wasn't really a lot...
I loved it - the frogs, the fairy tales, Joyce...though I flinched at the frying pan.
At night, I hear a lot of frogs out there.
“Ah, I am more aggressive than I pretend to be or like to think I am.”
This line - both literal, and a metaphor - is awesome, Mary: " I see *home* distorted through the bottom of the glass."
I am loving everything about this serial - thank you so much for sharing your story.
"1500 bucks on La Perla underwear."
Stunning fun, and I love how it weaves all the threads together. Fairy tales, Ulysses, frying pans, expensive underwear, the view of the rug through wine glass bottom, and walking along the Potomac.
"There is no end to the ways a woman may hit a man over the head with a frying pan."
So true:) And, we can learn so much from the traditional fairytales. Love how you have combined classic and modern in this narrative.
