Prose 4 of chapter 3
Mary, your dialogue sounds so alive! Is it from your memoir [Re]Making Love? I ordered it, so will be reading soon. Or is it a new novel? Sorry for question, I still can't get used to my new reality with Substack and continue my discoveries. Great!
Larissa, from the novel. Go to Table of Contents: https://marytabor.substack.com/p/who-by-fire-a-serial-novel-add and hear me read aloud the first chapter. And heartfelt thanks as well. xo ~ Mary
Absolutely wonderful, Mary! So beautifully written.
Oh, Victoria, How lovely you are to take the time to say this ... 💕
💕
I can taste the Breyers butter pecan!! Only back 'home' (in the US).
Such a great voice and story, Mary.
Ah, that butter pecan and such a grand comment that gives me hope, Kathleen.
'“Let’s just call it our stock market correction,” and that was that.
But what did either of them know about financial markets? Zilch.'
That's just great, Mary!
Oh, man, that helps so, Jeffrey.
The narrator’s voice is so tragic to me, full of pained regret, peering into his imagined understanding and lost moments.
Exactly, Kimberly, how the narrator, in first person, feels to me, as I follow him on his search for what happened.
Your dialogue so reminds of Dashiell Hammett... Nick and Nora but with more heart!
Oh, goodness, you are now in MY heart!
I mean every word :)
🙏🏻 That means so much. Have been lately pretty discouraged. And you have given me hope.
Keep it coming, Mary. Loving it!
Oh, Tim, thank you so. I so need the encouragement. Have been thinking of quitting Substack. Bless you. xo ~ Mary
Please do not. We need your voice on here.
Interesting story!
Thank you. Aaron!
