"My heart beats fifty-eight times in a minute, steady, slow. I keep score." I loved that line. A great chapter.

"And this phrase was a way of expressing that uncertainty, its double meaning, the word certain to say uncertain."

Love this.

We can live an entire life trying to reach "certainty" and then what? Maybe in a uncertain state is where the discoveries are. So many different elements to explore just in this post. Gets me thinking, thanks Mary.

Isn't certainty the biggest danger to thinking and caring and observing? Not sure it even works in Physics--though in some instances, sure--but still care must be taken, I think about "certainty" in all areas. Thank you for taking the time to comment so fully, Isabelle.

Your sentences always read like poetry Mary. The rhythm your heart beats as your brain conjures words leads my mind into a hypnotic trance where I know everything you say, is certainly, and intentionally, uncertain.

What a lovely comment. My heart to yours--and no uncertainty on that point.
