Lovely writing! I'm still waiting for the connections between the different elements to come together in my mind. The beautiful images by Andy Duback add a lot to the beautiful, distant tone of this.
"This little troupe of bachelors waiting for their own harem, but they’re submissive to the top dog:" I think we may have seen this sometimes in politics? But I can't put my finger on where.
This, and the chapter 18 https://marytabor.substack.com/p/something-old-for-something-new-chapter I've just read in the early hours of my day, and I'm moved by the essence of them. I want to fight for you, to shout at those men, to tell them to fuck off and celebrate the beauty of woman that is you.
I couldn't ask for anyone better to have on my side. I wish we lived near one another, particularly as enjoy your good hear and enlightening writing. And using the link to the earlier post is such a gift to me and to my readers. ~ xo Mary
Josh beat me to it. That was WCW's unpublished sequel: The Lover's Lament in Syllogism. But listen, I'd need therapy too if my name was WAR EMBLEM and everyone was in my business like that.
Oh, and Mary, I recall we talked about Sharon Olds ' *Stag's Leap*, about her husband's leaving her. I came across this poem again a couple of times this week and thought there is much in it that will be meaningful to you.

Love your comment: so generous. And then the irony of your last ...
Hoping for a stumble forward and out of the gate.
Exactly. You get what I'm doing here and are a grand reader. My deep thanks, heartfelt, indeed. ~ Mary

I love William Carlos Williams and thought I'd read everything, but apparently not. How do I find this poem or book, Jay. xo ~ Mary
That was my unclear allusion, I think, to The Widow's Lament in Springtime, a sad and heavy one, alas.

Indeed.
Love the syllogisms at the end. Perfect example of how to let the essay finish in the reader!
You're a love, Joshua. Thank you for taking the time to read and comment on my writing skills. Blessings, M.
